Chasing Down the Podium: Racing at My Preferred Circuit with Lohen

With some adjustments and aiming for a strong performance, I began the third race of the season with high hopes.

Adjusting for Success:

Learning from past experiences, I knew I needed to fine-tune my car setup. Making adjustments to the Rollbar toe and camber mounts, I aimed to make them more aggressive, anticipating how the car would perform in dry conditions.

Warm-Up Trials:

The warm-up session brought some challenges. The car displayed a tendency to understeer, coupled with occasional oversteer that made it a bit of a handful. However, despite these early hurdles, I managed to match my previous best lap time of 01:20.400, giving me a glimpse of hope for the day ahead.

Continuous Tweaks:

Determined to optimize my performance, I made further adjustments, particularly to the front roll bar, to reduce understeer. Practice sessions provided an opportunity to experiment with new turn-in and braking points, as the car's handling improved. These changes paid off, knocking off an impressive 9-tenths and setting a new personal best at 1:19.577.

Qualifying Thrills:

As the day progressed, the qualifying rounds were up next. My goal for the day was a high 1:18 lap time. Managing tyre pressures and tyre heat in warm conditions was crucial. A tweak to the damping settings led to a stiffer rear end, shaving off 2-tenths and earning me a lap time of 1:19.374. I secured the third spot in qualifying and set my sights on the finals.

Race for the Podium:

With the optimal lap time within reach, I entered the finals with high hopes. The car handled beautifully, and there were no more adjustments to be made. Early in the session, I clocked a 1:19.233, but I was determined to push harder to reach my goal.

Unfortunately, as excitement surged, I encountered understeer around coppice, dropping my time to 1:19.300.

A Podium Finish:

While I couldn't quite achieve the optimal 1:18 lap time I had hoped for, I held on to secure another podium finish, taking the second-place position.

Looking Forward:

With my sights set on the next challenge at Brands, the road ahead involves further weight reduction for the car and an even more aggressive setup. Our progress has been promising, and with increased seat time, we aim to beat our previous record and secure yet another podium position.
