We collaborated with AP Racing to produce a four pot powerful big brake kit for the GEN2 MINI. Paired with grooved disks and a set of EBC pads this MINI now has plenty of stopping power to handle the car's 330bhp. Braided hoses from Goodridge keep the high temperature tolerant Motul RBF 660 racing brake fluid pushing pads and not making hoses bulge! We originally fitted a single piece disc but eventually opted for the 2-piece disc for added temperature management benefits.

Induction

The induction kit from AEM is a power enhancing modification that utilises the MINI's bonnet scoop to feed cold dense oxygen-rich air to the combustion chamber. A stock JCW R56 increased by 21 BHP with one fitted in our dyno test so this MINI with it's 330 Turbo Technics turbo and our Config 4 Lohen crate engine will be generating plenty more horsepower than that with all elements working together.

We also fitted the AEM front strut brace to strengthen the chassis helping with the car's handling under hard cornering. As you can see it makes space for the air filter box and doesn't get in the way of the bonnet scoop.

LOHEN 330 TURBO

With a build of this calibre, you know it's going to be getting a bigger turbo! The 330 Turbo kit designed in partnership with Turbo Technics is specifically for the N14 Gen 2 MINI. A bolt on solution that's responsive and delivers power across the rev range unlike the stock turbo that runs out at about 2500rpm. 

 

The kit includes Turbosmarts blow off valve that can better handle the high boost levels without leakage. And to address all power-limiting factors we've added a braided oil feed pipe from Goodridge and created an elbow pipe and Turbo-to-intercooler pipe with Samco to maximise air flow.

The end result is a MINI that is fully customised and personalised to the client. It is striking to look at with it's bold paintwork and carbon fibre exterior styling. The interior has subtle purple details such as the stitching in the cobra seats and speedo facia.

 

The R56 received power and handling upgrades in equal measures too. You can see the Ohlins suspension, anti roll bar, Powerflex polyurethane bushes all round and light weight wheels that contribute to the MINI's race car levels of agility.  

 

A powder-coated downpipe feeding into a Ragazzon exhaust gives the car the quality of sound it deserves whilst also bumping the power in the right direction.

 

The Lohen crate engine, Lohen 330 turbo kit, airtec intercooler and AEM intake kit are being put to work with a stage 3 ecu map to create 330 bhp.

 

To apply all this power and deliver it to where it's needed, we fitted a limited slip differential to keep the power driving the car forwards in the corners and a clutch and flywheel kit that can handle the torque whilst retaining a smooth driving experience on the road.
