Performance Gains

The dyno test results were achieve on an F56 with the following modifications, note the MIN already had the Stage 1 tune, the results are not as a result of the ECU tune!

Design & development 

Rather than redesigning components that MINI already engineered effectively, TPE Precision focused on solving the real airflow limitations of the F56 platform.

The OEM front air diverter already performs efficiently, offering minimal measurable gains when replaced. Instead, the focus was placed on increasing total intake system volume and airflow capacity.

The TPE Precision system incorporates a secondary cold air feed positioned within the cowl high-pressure zone. This supplies an additional source of dense, cold air directly into the enlarged airbox.

The result is:

• Reduced heat soak under load

Unlike open cone intake systems, the TPE Precision Airbox Kit remains fully sealed, preventing hot engine bay air from contaminating intake temperatures.

Materials and manufacturing

TPE Precision intentionally manufactures the intake system using advanced polymers rather than metal construction.

Unlike metal heat shields, polymers do not absorb and retain heat like a thermal battery. This helps maintain lower intake temperatures during repeated pulls and spirited driving conditions.

The filter receives a continuous supply of cold air from:

1. The OEM front air diverter
2. The secondary cowl-mounted air feed

This approach delivers:

The secondary air feed system not only improves airflow but also fundamentally changes how turbo acoustics are transmitted into the cabin.

By routing the intake path towards the cowl area outside the insulated engine bay, turbocharger sounds travel through a shorter and less restricted acoustic path.

Options: 

The TPE Precision F56 MINI Airbox Kit is available in two fitment configurations:

• Standard version (non-strut brace vehicles)
• Ultra Racing strut brace compatible version

The Ultra Racing compatible version has been specifically engineered to provide clearance for vehicles fitted with the popular Ultra Racing front strut brace while maintaining full functionality and OEM-style fitment.

Importantly, the Strut Brace version will also fit vehicles not currently equipped with a strut brace. This allows owners to future proof their setup and retain the option of adding an Ultra Racing strut brace at a later date without needing to replace or modify the intake system.
