How To Fit Lohen Rear Adjustable Control Arms For F56 MINI Models

Lohen rear adjustable control arms are designed to be lightweight, extremely adjustable and easy to fit and adjust. These MINI control arms are available for all generations of MINI including Gen 1, 2 and 3.

Following our step by step tutorial below will help you fit our Lohen F56 rear control arms to your MINI. Only a small number of tools are required and the job should take no longer than 1-2 hours.

Tools Required

  • 1 set of Lohen F56 rear control arms (pre-set to OEM settings)
  • 18 mm spanner
  • 22 mm spanner
  • 24 mm spanner
  • Ratchet
  • E14 Torx socket
  • 8 mm socket
  • 10 mm socket
  • Jack or ramp

Removing OEM Control Arms

Step 1 – Remove rear wheels to allow access to the rear sub-frame.

Step 2 – Use an 8 mm and 10 mm socket to unscrew the undertray and heat shield screws and remove the trim that protects the underside of the MINI F56 to gain complete access to the OEM control arm.

Step 3 – Make a mark on the large washer facing the rear of the car to ensure the camber settings are correct when fitting the new control arms. Remove the Torx bolt closest to the wheel hub that is securing the control arm using an 18 mm spanner and E14 Torx socket.

Step 4 – Remove the 2nd bolt from the other end of the OEM control arm using an 18 mm spanner and E14 Torx socket.

Step 5 – Start with removing the end of the control arm closest to the wheel hub, this should allow removal of the complete OEM control arm.

Fitting Lohen F56 Rear Control Arms

Before fitting the Lohen control arms, the 4 spacers included are required when fitting. 1 pair of spacers is bigger than the other and should be attached to the subframe, with the smaller pair of spacers fitted to the hub side of the MINI. When unpackaging the control arms please do not mix up the spacers because they come correctly paired out of the box.

Step 6 – Fit the thicker end of the control arm into the subframe (position furthest from the wheel hub) and insert the bolt to hold the control arm in place.

Step 7 – Insert the thinner end of the control arm into its place closest to the wheel hub and re-insert the bolt to hold the control arm in place.

Step 8 – Lohen control arms are pre-set to OEM settings. If you do not need to adjust them, tighten the control arms to OEM torque settings (100 Nm).

Step 9 – Finally, follow the instructions again to fit the control arm on the opposite side of your MINI. Then re-fit any heat shields and under trays that were removed. Congratulations you have now fitted your Lohen F56 rear control arms.

Please note – It is advisable to have the alignment checked once fitted.

Adjusting Lohen F56 Rear Control Arms

Step 10 – To adjust the length, loosen the lock nuts at both ends with a 22 mm and 24 mm spanner.

Step 11 – Twist the control arm to adjust geometry in or out. To increase the camber, extend the length of the control arm and to decrease the camber, shorten the control arm.

Step 12 – Re-tighten lock nuts and you have now successfully fitted and adjusted your drop links.
