The OEM gearbox mount allows the gearbox and engine to move and absorbs most vibrations for a smooth ride. These mounts deteriorate over time and start to cause excessive engine movement and vibrations in the car; gearbox mounts are prone to premature failure on high performance applications.

The original torque link (also known as lower engine mount) allows engine roll affecting throttle response, gear selection and handling. This torque link is a fully welded steel construction with two high strength bonded bushes made out of black rubber to take the torsion load. This control link will improve throttle response and also improve how the car feels throughout the gears without compromising driving comfort.

The right hand engine mount is a well-known weakness on the MINI Cooper S, in particular the later (post 07/2004) oil-filled mounts. Engine mounts absorb vibrations creating a smoother ride, but tend to deteriorate over time causing vibrations in the cabin. The oil-filled mounts, in particular, can also leak reducing the effectiveness of the mount. You may notice this by finding dark, oily fluid residue around the hydraulic mount and on the chassis leg.
