The Alta Version 2.0 Air Intake System for the R53 MINI Cooper S is one of the most comprehensive kits available. Air intake systems that are able to shield the filter from hot air are always beneficial on performance cars such as the Cooper S. The intake housing seals against the bonnet when closed ensuring that air is only drawn from the desired areas. A supply of cold air will not only help improve overall power, but throttle response and torque as well. An increased supercharger note is also noticeable providing a fantastic amplified noise whilst not being intrusive.

One of the weakest points of the standard Cooper S system is the inefficient air ducting. This particular filtration system overcomes this by still taking air from the small front grill duct, but also draws a large amount of air from the rear vent under the windscreen due to the rear of the air box being open.

The Alta induction hose that bridges the air box to the throttle body is made from silicone. This provides a smooth intake tract, which increases airflow velocity and reduces turbulence over the standard system.

The high-flow foam filter reduces intake restrictions and increases the surface area over the standard filter. Unlike the standard cotton filter the Alta Foam Filter provides multi-layer filtration ensuring dirt is trapped and not able to enter the intake hose. The foam filter can be cleaned and re-used rather than needing to be replaced at every service interval, saving on future service costs.
